CPE-7 is located in Llanos basin of Colombia, one of the sub-Andean basin formed by Andean orogenic movement. The area of the block is 12,317 km2 and partitioning portion of KNOC is 30%.
In December 2007, Pluspetrol proposed to join a bid round of Colombia blocks. KNOC made a joint bidding group with Pluspetrol and CNPC for the bid round, In August 2008, the joint bid group have been awarded the block CPE-7 by ANH(Agencia Nacional De Hidrocarburos).
Currently, the consortium of KNOC, Pluspetrol and CNPC are conducting 2D seismic acquisition on the block under Technical Evaluation Agreement of the block CPE-7.

The block CPO-2 and CPO-3 are located in western part of Llanos basin, Colombia. Other than CPE-7, there exist a couple of commercial oil fields with a proven petroleum play around the area.
As the case of CPE-7, Pluspetrol proposed to enter a bid round of Colombia In July 2008. The joint bid group of KNOC and Pluspetrol have been awarded the block CPO-2 and CPO-3 by ANH(Agencia Nacional De Hidrocarburos) in November 2008.
The consortium of KNOC and Pluspetrol finished 2D seismic survey under Exploration and Production contracts. Currently, the consortium is conducting 3D seismic survey.
