As of Dec. 2011, KNOC has 146MMB of stockpile facilities, 130MMB of reserves(include international joint stockpile). KNOC plans to increase stockpiling level upto 141MMB by 2013 to enhance Korea's risk management abilities.

Efficient Use of Stored Assets: Paving the Road for Increased Stockpile

In order to secure additional stockpiles more economically, KNOC will break away from the statistics based concept for oil reserve preservation set by the government. KNOC will manage the reserves, within the limits of its stockpile objectives, to preserve, and improve the economics of, the existing stockpile. This in turn will increase Korea's competitiveness in the international petroleum industry. KNOC will continue international joint stockpiling project, time swap trading, and other programs actively utilizing the current stockpile to achieve government petroleum stockpiling project.
