Block 8 is a 1,823 square kilometer wide production block located in the Maranon basin in northern Peru. The operator, Pluspetrol, has a 60% stake of the project, and KNOC, POSCO INTERNATIONAL and SK innovation own 20%, 11⅔%, and 8⅓%, respectively. Initial production in the block started in 1974 and the contract period is from June 1996 to May 2024. As of December 2020, the average daily production stood at 0.35MBOPD (KNOC`s Share) with accumulated production reaching 28.1MMBBL (KNOC`s Share). Production has been temporarily suspended due to COVID-19 since April 2020. |
