To increase reserves and enhance the competitiveness of the oil stockpiling business, KNOC switched from strategic stockpiling or static stockpiling to dynamic stockpiling, which considers financial profits along with energy security. Making good use of the reserves via joint stockpiling and oil swaps, KNOC will reach the government’s goal of reserve volume in a timely and effective way.

As part of dynamic stockpiling, KNOC has increased international joint stockpiling and petroleum reserve swaps since 1999. Profits from the utilization are used to increase the reserve again. Accordingly, the dynamic concept is an effective and economical way of increasing reserves up to target government levels.
