| KNOC acquired a 15% interest of the Hawler Area in the Kurdistan region of Iraq in November 2008. Oryx Petroleum, as an operator of the block, owns 65% interest and the Kurdistan regional government has the remaining 20%. Oil and gas were discovered through drilling of the first exploration well (Demir Dagh-2) in March 2013. This was followed by successive discoveries of oil and gas in three other structures. Development has been underway since commercial production of oil began in the Demir Dagh structure in June 2014. Construction of early production facility was completed in September 2015.
The daily average production reached 4,000bbl/d as of March, 2018. |
